Gondomar wants tourists to meet and participate in the route of the Filigree

The Board of Gondomar will invite community and tourists to take hammer and chisel, traveling the route of Filigree, intending thus to value what is genuine in the municipality.

In Portugal almost everyone heard of filigree art of twisting strands of gold or silver, usually very thin but knows only the final pieces. With this project we can provide visitors with experiences, feelings, said the Councillor of tourism of the municipality of Gondomar, Carlos Brás.
The Filigree route will allow visitors to see how is the casting of precious metal, such as stretches and interweaves the wire, as the interior and exterior of the pieces, how do you, as if weld and like clean, among other processes.
According to the Mayor, the aim of this project is to prevent the filigree disappear making the, adding value and thus creating business opportunity also for the artisans.
The community-including children and young people since the route will be disclosed at the schools, as well as tourists, you can visit the workshops of Gondomar, where produce filigree parts being identified from the artisan who works alone to the company that has dozens of employees.
The route has as its central point, in the entrance hall of the route, the White House of Gramido, located on the waterfront of the River Douro, where, whenever there are reservations, there will be live work and workshops.
Join workshops such as António Cardoso that in 2014 saw the American actress Sharon Stone wearing one of the hearts of your collection or of Conceição Neves who is also a trainer of professional training centre of the Jewellery and Watchmaking industry (CINDOR), another of the points of the route.
In presenting the project reads that the route of the Filigree intends to raise awareness and enhance the genuine Goldsmith of Gondomar, preserving and streamlining its traditional workshops, and the script includes visit to larger plants that currently work with the most renowned international fashion brands.
Carlos Braz stressed the importance of economic dynamism and the preservation of a product of Gondomar municipality responsible for 60 of the entire national goldsmithery, without forgetting that the launch of this route is the understanding of the House that the territories should be valued for what is genuine, authentic and differentiator.
The Board of Gondomar is the promoter of the project, having as partners the Jewellery and Watchmaking Association of Portugal (AORP), the port Tourism CINDOR and North and the port Tourism Association.
The Filigree route will be presented at the OURINDÚSTRIA, which runs from 17 to 20 March in multipurpose Pavilion of Gondomar.
