// Access

The centre of Gondomar is only 6 Km away from the City of Porto, and has excellent road access with the IC29, connecting to the Via de Cintura Interna (VCI) making it easier to get to the aeroporto internacional Francisco Sá Carneiro (Francisco Sá Carneiro International Airport) and the A43 that allows a quick access to the network of national motorways.

Most of the territory is served by the transport network of the company Gondomarense and by the S.T.C.P (Sociedade de Transportes Coletivos do Porto), with regular bus services which start and end in Porto. In terms of railways, the Municipality is served by C.P. (Comboios de Portugal) with the northern railway line and with a train station in Rio Tinto. Near Valbom, there is the Estação Ferroviária Internacional de Campanhã (Campanhã Railway Station) in the Municipality of Porto. The Metro do Porto extends to Fânzeres, by the F line, zone C8. In terms of river access, which is one of the best ways to visit the Municipality, Gondomar has two marinas and several anchorages along the course of the Douro. Between the parish of Lomba and the União de Freguesias de Melres e Medas there is a taxi-boat service with regular crossings.
